Strange Library Records is a small place, home to some bands of shared intention.

Strange Library puts out records, and does some other stuff.

We really like what we’re doing. We hope you do, too.

Music has changed a lot in the last 15 years. Think of us like the proverbial “I know a guy” for some of the parts of music that can be tough. You won’t owe us a bunch of money, you won’t be stuck with us for the rest of your career, and you’ll have say in everything.

In short: we want to help you make what you’re dreaming about. From press releases to photos to pressing your next record, we can help. Without all the bullshit.

Strange Humans

Austin Hatch

Founder, producer, creative director, and sound enthusiast. Austin has played music in scenes from New York to Boston for the last 20 years, in bands with approaches ranging from high-school-Coldplay-wannabe’s to improvised noise intended to disturb and distort.

Austin is driven by a desire to create what he wants to see, hear, and participate in. If you have an idea - big, small, or weird - and want to involve the SLR team, get in touch. Whether it’s producing a record or talking about cameras, he’s probably interested.

Laura Mason

Joining SLR to help realize the visual part of our world, Laura shoots film photography for bands and artists on-stage, in-studio, and in the wild. Finding greater satisfaction in the analog process, much of her work is shot on 35mm film or Polaroid. Avoiding the “conventional band photo” approach, Laura creates images that are as intentional as the broader body of work an artist creates, rather than something that looks like it belongs on a magazine rack at a grocery store.

Jefferson Pitcher

With a long history in the San Francisco Bay Area music scene in the 90’s and early 00’s, Jefferson brings a wide and studied perspective on sound and song for Strange Library artists. He provides thoughtful writing for bands in the roster, bringing an outside perspective to their work that is informed by a lifetime in and around vibrant local scenes throughout the USA and Canada. Holding an MFA from RPI with a focus in improvisation and sound, Jefferson’s time spent studying and creating with Pauline Oliveros informs his writing and consultation with artists as much as his time playing in punk bands at Gilman Street.
